Glaswaldsee


An Ice Age glacier carved this cirque lake out of the variegated sandstone. It once served as a reservoir for loggers, who used the impounded water to float felled logs down into the valley.
Thanks to its unspoiled nature, Glaswaldsee is considered one of the Black Forest’s most magnificent, clear blue "eyes." The lake takes its name from a glassworks that—along with a small hamlet—stood in the Seebach Valley during the 17th century. In the past, glass for the bottles of the Rippoldsau mineral spring was produced there.
Glaswaldsee can only be reached on foot.



Burgbachwasserfall


The water plunges more than 32 meters directly over the Burgbachfelsen rock face. The small stream winds its way through the Burgbach Valley and flows into the Wolf River. Various hiking trails lead to the waterfall, including the "Klösterle-Schleife" premium hiking trail.
Beside the waterfall stands the Burgbachfelsen rock, topped by an observation pavilion that offers a magnificent panoramic view.



Schwarzwaldhochstrasse

The Black Forest High Road (Schwarzwaldhochstraße) runs for 60 km from Freudenstadt to Baden-Baden. Although this scenic route—the finest tourist road in the Black Forest—celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2007, it remains a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.
The entire route offers magnificent views of Black Forest valleys, the Rhine Valley, and the Alsace region, extending as far as the Vosges Mountains. There are also numerous tourist highlights, such as Lake Mummelsee, the Lothar Path, and the Wilderness Path at Bühlerhöhe. The Black Forest National Park, which opened in 2014, stretches across a large area along the High Road between Ruhestein and Bühlerhöhe.
Winter sports enthusiasts, particularly skiers, will find plenty to enjoy here. Thanks to an elevation ranging from 700 to 1,164 meters, reliable snow conditions are virtually guaranteed. Numerous ski lifts and a connection to the Northern Black Forest long-distance ski trail offer something for every taste.
